This book is a result of deep inner work done by the author to release old patterns and pain from her life. As she journeyed deeper and deeper into her inner being, she received detailed information on how Jesus achieved all that he did in his short lifespan. From this she arrived at five basic assumptions:

  1. The Divine exists in our daily world
  2. The Divine cares about the outcome of our affairs in the world
  3. It is possible to link with Spirit and receive Divine messages
  4. We all have a Divine purpose and plan upon Earth
  5. The Divine will remind us of our job

The Seven Steps to Cosmic Awakening remind me of the alchemical approach to achieving Divine Consciousness. They are:

  1. Letting Go of Personal Chains

  2. Opening to the Wisdom of the Higher Spirit-Self

  3. Disconnecting from Conventional Wisdom

  4. Operating from a Higher Source

  5. Discovering Your Higher Purpose

  6. Moving as a Master Through Your World

  7. Influencing Others for the Common Good

The second subtitle for this book is Reconnecting with Your Inner Spirit During Changing Times. Times are always changing and one of our purposes in every lifetime is to reconnect with our own Inner Spirit or Higher Self while in the flesh. This can be accomplished through a lifetime of contemplation and prayer, meditation, alchemy, path-working and any combination of these with deep inner work.

This book suggests using a combination of these techniques to unite with our Higher Self and become what we intended to become when we stepped into this world for the umpteenth time. This is one of the goals we had in mind when we incarnated into this world. I read the book and now I'm working on the suggested exercises and practices. I particularly like the Mirror of Compassion Tool and the Heart of Love Meditation suggested by the author. Some of you may prefer one of the dozen or so other techniques the author suggests, like The Three Teaching Tools:

  1. The meek shall inherit the Earth

  2. The wealthy do not hold greater favor with the Divine

  3. The temple of the Divine is not outside us, but within us.
