Weiser Books advertises his
latest contribution to Qabalistic literature with the following
understatement: “Learn the basics of Qabalah in spite of yourself and laugh
your way up the Tree of Life.”
A rabbi is a teacher. Lamed is a contrivance composed of the
first letter of each of the author’s names.
It also just happens to be one of the letters in the Hebrew alphabet, which proves to be most fortuitous. Ben is Hebrew for “son” or “son
of” and Clifford is the author’s father.
Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford is a figment of the author’s imagination and
such a funny figment as you can ever imagine.
With humor, great lessons are learned.
Wonderful knowledge is imparted.
You’ll roar with laughter over the first chapter where the good
rabbi answers basic questions about the Qabalah, the Tree of Life, and the
purpose of our life. The author
then converts the Ten Commandments into Ten Command-Rants where great and
fundamental truths are exposed. You’ll
laugh right out loud. You’ll
see the truth hidden in secret and mystical words. You’ll start a journey to
understanding yourself and your purpose in life. Beware.
This is a Tome of Great and Wonderful Knowledge revealed with laughter
and wonderment.
This is an introductory
book into the truth behind magick which explains how and why magick works. The Holy Guardian Angel and the
Chicken Tarot are revealed simply and humorously. The four parts of our soul and the four worlds of the four
elements are explained in simple-to-understand terms and imprinted on our
minds with hard-to-forget humor.
Even if you consider
yourself adept with the Hebrew language, you’ll enjoy the clear and
uncomplicated way the author explains and describes the Hebrew letters. Even if you consider yourself a
learned scholar of the Tree of Life, you’ll gain further insights into this
Path of Wisdom. Even if you’ve
taught the Qabalah in great depth for almost thirty years as I have, you’ll
be amazed at what you can learn at the feet of Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford. I am.
In my humble opinion The
Chicken Qabalah is a classic worthy to stand beside the great books on the
Qabalah in the library of every student seeking to discover who and what he or
she really is. To go down the
road with Lon Milo DuQuette is to travel a spiritual path in fun and laughter.
